Why we're leaving X

Posted on: 12 December, 2024

As we continue on our journey to become a world-class conservation zoo, as an active protector of wildlife we want to focus on spaces where we can make a positive impact.

Over the past few years, we and many other X users have seen a rise in misinformation, bots and hate speech that has made staying on the platform increasingly difficult. We no longer see X as a place where we can have meaningful conversations about topics such as climate change, biodiversity, sustainability, inclusivity and diversity.

We’ve seen positive conversations about the future of our world move away from X in favour of other channels. We want to continue to be part of these and it doesn’t make sense for us to stay on a platform that our audience is no longer using.

Therefore, we’ve decided to move away from using X, and will focus on spaces where we feel we can make a difference. You can still find us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads and TikTok – and we know that these platforms are far from perfect. But the positive impact we can have with them outweighs the negative aspects we’ve experienced, at least for now.

You can also subscribe to our e-newsletter for all the latest zoo updates and conservation news.

As always, thank you for your support of our conservation and education charity!
