Bristol Zoo Project is just a short detour from national cycle route 4.

If you’re planning to cycle, we have plenty of cycle racks available at the entrance (next to the Bristol Zoo Project sign).

Bristol Zoo Project is also a location for a local council funded scheme to help keep you on your bike. Across South Gloucestershire there is a network of Emergency Bike/Cycle Repair Kits available to the general public.

The kits contain lots of useful items including a pump, tyre patch kits, tyre levers, lights, and valves for cyclists to borrow or take.

Our kit is stored at Admissions and is available for visitors, and passers-by, to use free-of-charge – please just ask a member of the team!

Bus Routes Map for Greater Bristol

Stagecoach: Route 12

The number 12 bus runs between Bristol Parkway, Cribbs Causeway, and Severn Beach. Visitors can request the stop on Blackhorse Hill (between Cribbs Causeway and Easter Compton, close to the M5 J17 roundabout) for Bristol Zoo Project and the Easter Compton Golf Club – both are just a couple of minutes' walk from bus stop. Please note: the walking route currently follows a short section of grass verge. There is not a designated pedestrian crossing.

First Bus: Route 1/2/2a

Visitors can use route 1/2/2a between Cribbs Causeway and Broomhill or Stockwood to request stops on Catbrain Lane, Cribbs Causeway.

From the bus stop, it is then a short 10 to 15-minute walk on a pedestrian route to the entrance of Bristol Zoo Project.

Newport Bus: Route T7

This service operates between Mangor Queens and Bristol Bus Station, with stops in Chepstow, Caldicot, and Clifton. Visitors can use the Cribbs Causeway Bus Station stop to access Bristol Zoo Project. It is either a 20-25 minute walk, or you can connect with one of the buses suggested above to reduce the walk.

WESTlink

The new on-demand bus service, launched in April 2023, runs without a fixed timetable or route. Book through a mobile app, website or by phone.

Heading north on M5

1. Exit motorway at Junction 17.

2. At the roundabout, take your first left, signposted B4055.

3. Continue on the B4055 for 150 metres. The Bristol Zoo Project entrance is on your left.

Heading south on M5

1. Exit motorway at Junction 17. There are two filter lanes on the right. Stay in the left-hand side lane, signposted B4055.

2. At the roundabout, take the third exit, signposted B4055.

3. Continue on the B4055 for 150 metres. The Bristol Zoo Project entrance is on your left.

From the Mall South Car Park at Cribbs Causeway

1. Head southeast.

2. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit.

3. Turn left towards Merlin Road.

4. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Merlin Road

5. Turn right onto Cribbs Causeway/A4018.

6. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Cribbs Causeway/B4055. Continue to follow B4055.

7. Take the first left to Bristol Zoo Project.

Parking is free of charge but we advise booking your admission ticket in advance during peak periods to avoid disappointment.

We have two coach parking spaces, which are strictly limited and must be pre-booked. They will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
